Facebook recently added a facial recognition feature that has some people worried about their privacy and settings. In short, the feature will attempt to recognize faces in pictures when they are uploaded, then suggest that face be tagged should it recognize a face from that users friends list.
While it seems relatively harmless, some might decide to opt out of that feature. Heres how:
Disabling Facial Recognition
- Log into Facebook.
- In the top-right corner click on Account and go to Privacy Settings.
- Click "customize settings" (toward the bottom-middle of your screen).
- Look for the section titled "Things others share." The permission you accidentally gave Facebook to use facial recognition suggestions is located in the "Suggest photos of me to friends" option. Click on "Edit Settings" to change that.
- Choose "Disabled" and then push "OK."
